Inter Milan have established the initial contact with representatives of Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic, Sky Italia can reveal.
The Nerazzurri are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements and the Montenegro star has emerged as their primary target.
According to Sky Italia, Inter officials will have a meeting with Jovetic’s agents later today as they hope to persuade the player to move to Stadiu Giuseppe Meazza.
The former Fiorentina hotshot has been deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester City and is widely tipped to return to Italian Serie A at the end of the season.
And while long-term admirers Juventus have been showing interest as well, it would appear as though Inter Milan lead the chase for his signature.
Stevan Jovetic, who had scored 35 goals in 116 Serie A outings for Fiorentina, has only started 11 Premier League matches since joining City two years back, but, nonetheless, managed 8 goals.
