Lampard’s move to Inter Milan has been on and off all summer long, but it looks like the Italian club will try to put an end to all the speculation. According to The Sun, Inter Milan have made an official bid of £6.5 million for the Chelsea midfielder.
“Our technical director Marco Branca has sent a fax to Chelsea to request the beginning of negotiations for Lampard.
“We will now wait for Chelsea’s response.†Said a source within the club, according to The Sun.
Chelsea reportedly offered Lampard a £140,000 per week pay check to try and keep him at Stamford Bridge, but given Jose Mourinho’s confidence that the player will join him at Inter, it seems unlikely that Lampard will sign an extension with Chelsea.
According to the report, the England midfielder could even buy out his contract this summer, and force his move to Inter. Alternately, he could wait until his contract runs out next summer and leave on a free transfer.
