Inter president delighted with win

Inter president Massimo Moratti believes his team showcased their best form in the 2-1 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday.

Veteran striker Diego Milito and summer signing Antonio Cassano got on the scoresheet in an entertaining first half, before Romulo scored what was ultimately a consolation, but the visitors were unable to grab an equaliser.

And Moratti believes the more defensive latter 45 minutes were necessary to defend the dominance they had earlier displayed in their first San Siro win of the season this weekend.

“That was the best performance of the season by us so far, without a doubt,” Moratti told reporters on Monday.

“We had a good first half where we could have actually gone into the break 4-1 up and we could have scored a further goal in the second half.

“Was it a cautious second period from us? That was the right way to play the game. And I don’t think the fact that we had not won at home yet this season was on the players’ minds.”

Inter are third in the Serie A table on 12 points after six games, four points behind Juventus and second-placed Napoli, who both are unbeaten on 16 points.
