A report from Channel4.com says that Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini is ready to launch an ambitious bid for Inter Milan striker David Suazo.
After losing their star striker Amauri to Juventus this summer, they are in need of a dependable scorer and see the Honduran as a great replacement. Suazo hit 22 goals for Cagliari in 2005-06, which was a club record.
Suazo’s dream move from Cagliari to Inter didn’t blossom as he thought and could face lengthy periods warming the bench this season.
Roma had been the favorites to snap him up but they opted for Real Madrid man Julio Baptista instead.
Palermo chief Zamparini and his sporting director Walter Sabatini are expected to meet with their Inter counterparts before the end of the week in the hope of completing a deal, which is expected to be a season loan.
The major stumbling block for the Rosanero is Suazo’s salary and they will need the Italian champions to agree to pay a percentage of his wages.
