Is it now impossible for QPR to stay in the Premier League?

Can Harry Redknapp keep QPR in the Premier League this season?

Can Harry Redknapp keep QPR in the Premier League this season?

I don’t think Harry Redknapp has ever professed to be anything like Tom Cruise, but the QPR boss could now have his very own mission impossible on his hands.

The Hoops lost 3-2 at Fulham last night to remain seven points away from safety.

Terrible

Ranger’s first half display at Craven Cottage was simply awful. They conceded three goals and looked like they could end up getting hammered.

Redknapp’s team got a goal back late-on in the first period to put them back into the game.

Transformed

The Hoops came out in the second half and looked like a completely different team. French striker Loic Remy missed a penalty, before firing QPR back into the game. Fulham were even reduced to ten-men, but the visitors just couldn’t find an equaliser.

Time

Time is now running out for Redknapp and his team. When the former-Tottenham boss arrived at the club the team looked like they were destined to play Championship football next season and they still do.

Mess

I have no doubt that Redknapp has improved the atmosphere at Loftus Road. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem he has been able to get his team out of trouble at the bottom of the league. There were far too many problems at the club for even a skilful man-manager like Redknapp to deal with.

The club was a complete mess after Mark Hughes’ disastrous spell at the club. Hughes brought in far too many players. I don’t think Redknapp can take much of the blame if QPR do go down.

Signings

Harry Redknapp’s always been a good operator in the transfer market. He takes offence to the term ‘wheeler dealer’, but that term seems to perfectly describe Redknapp. Loic Remy, Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend have for the most part been superb signings.

For the majority of his games Christopher Samba has put in decent performances since his January arrival, but he had a nightmare in last night’s game. I’m sure he will put in far better displays before the end of the season.

I can’t help thinking that if Redknapp had taken over at Loftus Road in the summer then QPR wouldn’t be in the trouble they are now. Redknapp could have shifted some of the deadwood and the team would have achieved better results this season.

Run-in

QPR don’t have the worse run-in until the end of the season. The Hoops may have to visit top six Everton and host Arsenal, but they also have games against the likes of Wigan, Reading and Stoke to come.

If the Hoops do claim victory against Wigan in their next match then it could change the complexion of the season completely. However, even with a decent run time may be against the Hoops.

If they are going to complete the great escape this season then it may just depend on how their rivals fare for the rest of the season. Some of the Hoops rivals are struggling for form and could slip-up.

Sunderland are in free-fall, but nobody is sure of what effect the arrival of Paolo Di Canio as boss will have on the team. Fourth from bottom Wigan have an annual fight for their lives, so they have the experience in this situation.

Aston Villa have been woefully inconsistent this season and their young team are learning the hard way in the top flight. The Villans just can’t seem to close out games.

Happy

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is happy at Loftus Road and relegation hasn’t even entered his mind. If they do go down and Harry Redknapp stays on I’m sure that he would bring the Hoops straight back up into the Premier League.

He hasn’t really had much time to make the team his own because most of the players at the club were brought in by previous bosses and he only had the January transfer window to bring in his own players.

Redknapp seems to be popular with the QPR fans and it seems that most fans want him to be at their club next season.

Unlikely

It’s not impossible that QPR will beat the drop this season, but it just seems very unlikely due to the amount of points they are currently trailing their rivals. If they do go down and keep faith with Redknapp I’m sure they will make a quick return to the top flight.
