Daily Mail is reporting that free-spending Monaco are planning a summer swoop for Chelsea stopper Branislav Ivanovic.

The Principality club have already signed James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho from FC Porto, while they are reportedly closing in on Radamel Falcao.

Meanwhile, they are also searching for defensive reinforcements and are ready to turn their attention towards Branislav Ivanovic after Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany rejected their approach.

Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri is a keen admirer of the Serbian defender with the French club ready to offer around £25 million.

However, new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho also values Ivanovic highly and he is not interested in selling regardless of the proposal.

Branislav Ivanovic, 29, has enjoyed another very successful season, scoring 8 goals in 57 competitive matches this term, including the last-gasp winner in the Europa League final.

Milan linked to Ilicic, Cerci

Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that AC Milan are keeping close tabs on Serie A starlets Josip Ilicic and Alessio Cerci.

The club chiefs seem to have decided to replace current boss Max Allegri with Clarence Seedorf and they are starting to think about summer reinforcements.

With Giampaolo Pazzini set for a six-month spell on the sidelines and Bojan Krkic almost certain to leave, they need at least two attack-minded players.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are seriously thinking about recruiting Palermo playmaker Josip Ilicic and Torino winger Alessio Cerci.

Meanwhile, they are stepping up their interest in Sampdoria forward Simone Zaza, who is followed by just about every top club in Italy.

Given that Robinho and Kevin-Prince Boateng could also leave in the summer, the Rossoneri could pursue their interest in all three targets.

Newcastle keen on French hotshot

Newcastle are among clubs showing interest in Auxerre midfielder Steven Langil, reports L’Equipe.

The 25-year-old is nearing the end of his deal at Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps and seems to have set his sights on leaving the club.

Ligue 1 clubs Saint Etienne, Nice, Reims and Valenciennes are all keen on the highly rated footballer, but the player is attracting interest from abroad as well.

According to L’Equipe, Premier League side Newcastle are keeping close tabs on Steven Langil.

The Magpies have been delighted with the impact their recent signings from France had at the club and they look to further increase their French contingent.

Newcastle are believed to be pondering a Bosman deal for Langil, who has only made 30 top flight appearances in his career.

He has been in fine form this season, clocking up 33 Ligue 2 appearances and scoring 3 goals in the process.
