The battle in Group 5 of the African World Cup qualifiers seems to be an issue between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, as both teams maintained their perfect record in this weekend’s games.
Burkina Faso had already beaten Malawi 0-1 on Saturday, and the Ivorians did what was expected from them with a 1-2 victory in Guinea.
Bakary Kone scored the opening goal just before the break, although Sambegou Bangoura levelled in minute 65. The winning goal came 12 minutes later though as Ivory Coast’s Christian Romaric made it 1-2.
Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso each have six points from two games, while Guinea and Malawi remain stuck at the bottom of this group with no points.
