J.League wrap: Albirex stun leaders Yokohama, Omiya go second

Yokohama F Marinos dropped their first points of the J.League season after going down 1-0 at Albirex Niigata on Saturday.

Albirex midfielder Hideya Okamoto scored the decisive goal with 12 minutes remaining, ending Yokohama’s season-opening run of six straight wins.

Meanwhile, Omiya Ardija continued their strong start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Urawa Reds.

Slovenian forward Zlatan Ljubijankic broke the deadlock for Omiya in the first half, allowing the hosts to leapfrog Urawa to second on the table.

Elsewhere, Sanfrecce Hiroshima climbed to fourth place after beating lowly Jubilo Iwata 2-0 away from home.

Hisato Sato opened the scoring in the fifth minute, before Naoki Ishihara put the result beyond doubt with three minutes to go.

Nagoya Grampus suffered their second loss of the season with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of FC Tokyo.

Nagoya took the lead through Australian striker Josh Kennedy in the 30th minute, but failed to hold on as Brazilian forward Lucas struck twice from the penalty spot and Kazuma Watanabe added a third goal for the home side.

In other matches, Kawasaki Frontale recorded their first win of the season after accounting for Vegalta Sendai 4-2.

Goals from Cleo, Tatsuya Masushima and Masato Kudo guided Kashiwa Reysol to a 3-0 victory over Sagan Tosu.

Daisuke Kikuchi’s 55th-minute goal proved the difference as Shonan Bellmare defeated Oita Trinita 2-1.

Shimizu S-Pulse came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with Cerezo Osaka, while Kashima Antlers hosted Ventforet Kofu in a 0-0 stalemate.
