J League Wrap: Omiya Ardija extend their lead at the top

A late Takamitsu Tomiyama winner for leaders Omiya Ardija extended their unbeaten run to 21 games with a 2-1 victory over Hiroshima.

The game had to wait over an hour for the first goal as both teams remained resolute at the back, however with 67 minutes played Milivoje Novakovic opened the scoring for the home side.

Hisato Sato equalised for the visitors soon after but with six minutes remaining Tomiyama sealed the victory, taking Omiya to their seventh straight league win.

The league leaders are six points ahead of second placed Yokohama F Marinos after they fell to a surprising 2-1 defeat to Kashiwa Reysol.

Brazilian striker Cleo opened the scoring for Reysol in the 8th minute,Shingo Hyodo grabbed an equaliser for the visitors midway through the first half but Yokohama could not contain their hosts and on the hour mark Masato Kudo grabbed the winner.

Third place Kashima Antlers had fewer troubles against second bottom Shonan Bellmare, a first half strike from Brazilian Davi won them the game that keeps them one point behind Yokohama.

Hotaru Yamaguchi scored an equaliser with three minutes to spare to earn Cerezo Osaka a 2-2 draw with Urawa Reds. Kenyu Sugimoto scored just after the hour to give Osaka the lead before Tomoya Ugajin and Daisuke Nasu gave turned the game around only for Yamaguchi to grab a point in the closing minutes.

There was another late equaliser in the game between Tokyo and Jubilo Iwata, Tadanari Lee scoring in the third minute of injury time to secure a point for Tokyo. Masahiko Inoha and Yuki Kobayashi put the visitors two goals ahead, but with 16 minutes remaining Naohiro Ishikawa grabbed one back and Lee completed the comeback with seconds to spare.

Goals from Yu Kobayashi and Takuro Yajima helped Kawasaki Frontale come from behind to beat Shimizu S-Pulse 2-1 after Yutaka Yoshida had given the visitors an early lead. Elsewhere Vegalta Sendai recorded a 2-0 victory over Nagoya Grampus to lift them above their opponents and Sagan Tosu beat bottom of the table Oita Trinita 4-2.

The only other game in week 10 was between Ventforet Kofu and Albirex Niigata, it finished 1-1 after Sho Sasaki’s early goal for Kofu was cancelled out by Kengo Kawamata’s second half equaliser.
