Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Christophe Jallet believes the club can ‘achieve beautiful things’ after their 4-0 Ligue 1 win over Evian TG.

The French capital side also defeated Porto in the Champions League midweek to progress as group winners and Jallet said that victory provided a boost for the Evian clash.

“(It was a) good performance, a very good first half, a second where we were not as consistent but in all cases we can be satisfied about the work we achieved tonight,” Jallet said.

“We had two very good games this week and I hope that we will not stop here and that we will show the same form for the last three games before the Christmas break.

“We won a difficult game in Champions League against a very good team. It made us be aware of our qualities and potential.

“Everyone realised that if we stick to the values of fighting spirit, passion, generosity, we can achieve beautiful things, and not only in Champions League.

“Tonight, we did it in Ligue 1 and it’s very good for our spirits.”

The win was spearheaded by star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, scoring himself and supplying Ezequiel Lavezzi, while Thiago Motta and Kevin Gameiro sealed the game late on.

Gameiro dismissed reports of tension at the club, citing the performances over the past week as proof they are travelling well.

“Those two games have shown that we are on the right path, but we should not get carried away,” he said.

“We must be down to earth and carry on working hard. The championship is long and we’ll see what will happen.

“Everyone did ask themselves the right questions. Everyone tried to play together tonight in the same way we did against Porto. The result is a good game and it has made a big difference.”

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti was proud of his team’s performance, especially after their win over Porto.

“It’s nice confirmation after the victory against Porto,” Ancelotti told the club’s website.

“The players have shown a good attitude, and the team has worked hard. We are content because after an intense period of matches we saw a strong team and players who played well.

“The key to the match was to show the same face we did in the Champions League. We made a good start to the game with lots of intensity, and after the first goal it was easy.”
