Heerenveen defender Daryl Janmaat will return to Feyenoord on a free transfer at the end of the Eredivise season.
Janmaat’s existing contract at Heerenveen will expire in the close season, meaning he was free to sign a three-year deal at De Kuip, running until 2015.
Rotterdam-based side Feyenoord were in the market for a new right-back due to the expected departures of Dani Fernandez and Gill Swerts at the end of the campaign, and they see 22-year-old Janmaat as the perfect replacement.
Janmaat is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the club.
His professional debut arrived in 2007 with ADO Den Haag, where he made 25 league appearances, before joining Heerenveen the following year.
A return of 62 league appearances and three goals during his time at the Abe Lenstra Stadion was enough to secure a switch back to Feyenoord.
Janmaat is the club’s third signing for the off-season transfer window, after they previously secured the services of NEC midfielder John Goossens and Roda star Ruud Vormer on free transfers.
