Javier Hernandez could make Man United return

Manchester United fans will remember Javier Hernandez, popularly known as ‘Chicarito’, as a super sub during the brilliant reign of Sir Alex Ferguson. The Mexican international, who last year became his nation’s all-time leading goal scorer, has since played for Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham, where he currently plies his trade.

This week however the striker has been linked with a return to Old Trafford, and, according to the Metro, is one of a number of forwards being eyed by United manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach is reportedly losing faith in summer signing Romelu Lukaku, who has 10 Premier League goals this season.

Hernandez never made more than 28 appearances in a Premier League campaign for United, despite spending four full seasons with the club, but featured extensively from the bench.

With double figure goal tallies in three of those seasons, the diminutive forward established himself as a prolific marksman, and his addition to the current United squad would certainly give them another element and option off the bench.
