(GSM) – Adam Johnson has said that it was a dream come true for him after scoring on his competitive debut for England as he sets his sights on breaking into Fabio Capello’s starting XI.
The Manchester City winger, who scored his first goal for his country against Bulgaria at Wembley on Friday, was part of the national side that opened their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with a win.
Johnson claimed that his goal in the 4-0 rout was the biggest moment of his career to date.
He told Sky Sports News: “It was a massive moment.
“To score my first goal in my first competitive game, it’s the biggest moment of my career, but the most important thing was getting a good win.
“Scoring for your country is obviously something everyone dreams about when you’re younger and I’m no different.”
The 23-year-old believes England are now on a high and have the confidence to go to the intimidating St. Jakob Park in Basel and claim a victory.
“It will be very tough on Tuesday but we must be patient and move the ball around because they will be hard to break down.
“We’re more than capable of going there and getting a win.
“Two wins out of two games would be a perfect start for us.”
