Juninho Pernambucano edging close to MLS move

New York Post has revealed that Vasco da Gama midfielder Juninho Pernambucano is set to sign for New York Red Bulls.

The former Lyon star, who will be 38 in January, has less than a month left on his deal with the Brazilian giants and everything suggests the contract will not be renewed.

MLS side New York Red Bulls are keen on the veteran midfielder and New York Post suggests they are on the verge of completing a transfer.

Juninho was in New York earlier this week to get familiarized with the club and was largely impressed with what he’d seen.

The Brazilian had earlier met Gerard Houlier, his former Lyon boss and current director of global football at Red Bulls, in Rio de Janeiro.

Juninho remains regarded as one of the best free-kick takers in the history of the game, having scored more than 50 goals directly from dead-ball situations.
