Rafa Benitez likes to make wholesome changes to the squad in the transfer windows and this summer he will make no exception. Xabi Alonso could well leave Liverpool to join Italian giant Juventus who are still looking to rebuild their squad following the embarrassment of the Calciopoli.

According to reports in Italy, Juventus would need to make an offer of £14 million - three million more than they are currently offering - in order to tempt Liverpool to let go of their playmaker.

But another uncertainty with regards to the deal seems to be Alonso’s willingness to leave his current club as his contract runs until 2012 and he seems to have a very good relationship with manager Rafa Benitez.

Should the deal go through, it will be the second midfielder that Juventus will have signed from Anfield this year after Sissoko who his injury-plagued Liverpool career in January and joined Claudio Ranieri’s team.

Liverpool’s problem is inconsistency. They’ve brought in some quality players the past season (Torres, Babel, Skrtel). Not forgetting Mascherano. These players combined with Gerrard, Carragher make a good team. Alonso has not been a regular at liverpool this season but the quality is stil there. I dont think it would be a good idea to let him go as we are trying to build a league winning team. He is a quality addition at liverpool and the fans love him.

Liverpool should be looking at adding more quality players and stop trying to fill in with average players. Average will only get you to fourth spot and not winning any silverware like we(liverpool) did. We need quality. If they can get the likes of David Villa, who clearly is not happy at Valencia to partner Torres, it would be great. Another quality winger Ricardo Quaresma, who for me i think can be as good as ronaldo at liverpool with benitez as manager. Gareth Barry is also quality and i hope and pray that he comes to liverpool given his style of play which will fit perfectly with stevie G.
Another left back will be another position that liverpool need to tighten. The likes of Marcelo or Drenthe, both from Real Madrid are good, young and talented players who we can look at. Not forgetting that Insua is also promising provided he’s giving more game time.

With all this players added, i think liverpool will be title contenders next season.
Hope benitez gets to read this……

Juventus will get Alonso, Gerard, Reina, Torres, and Keane.

Got something to say?
