Juventus fail in Szczesny bid

Arsenal have rejected an approach from Juventus for goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, according to the Express.

The Gunners are set to part company with the Poland international, who has spent the last two seasons in Italy on loan with Roma.

Both Juve and Inter Milan are interested in giving the twenty-seven year old the opportunity to stay in Serie A though the former have failed with their opening bid, thought to be in the region of £4m.

The beaten Champions League finalists are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper with long serving number one Gigi Buffon set to retire after next summer’s World Cup finals in Russia.

Szczesny played eighty-one times for Roma in all competitions while he has notched up one hundred and eight-one for his parent club having made his debut in a 2-0 League Cup third round victory over West Bromwich Albion back in September 2009.
