Juventus are set to step up their interest in Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro, Tuttosport can reveal.

Given that Andrea Pirlo is not getting any younger and Arturo Vidal is being linked with a summer exit, the Bianconeri are in the market for a central midfielder.

And it appears that Everton Ribeiro is one of the first names on their hit-list, with Juventus officials ready to make their interest concrete.

Having received glowing reports from their scouting team, the Bianconeri are ready to submit an official proposal, with the midfielder valued at €8 million.

Everton Ribeiro has largely impressed since joining Cruzeiro from Coritiba, scoring 17 goals in 83 league outings and he is on the verge of winning the Brazilian Serie A title.

His suitors Juventus recorded a very important win over Olympiakos yesterday evening and are now 1/5 to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.

Werder rule out Di Santo exit

Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen have moved to suggest that star striker Franco Di Santo will not be leaving the club any time soon.

The Argentine joined the Weserstadion outfit on a free transfer from Wigan Athletic just over a year ago and he has since developed into a key player.

Di Santo’s impressive performances this term did not go unnoticed as the 25-year-old is now being linked with a big club move, but Werder have no intention to sell even if they could use the money to balance the books.

“We do not want to sell Franco in the summer. I would like to work long-term with Franco,” Werder general manager Thomas Eichin told Bild. “We have the ability to extend with Franco.”

Franco Di Santo has a contract until June 2016 at Weserstadion and is currently valued at around €4.5 million.

Even with Werder sitting at Bundesliga rock-bottom, the talented forward tops the goalscoring charts having bagged 6 goals in 10 league outings.

Sneijder rubbishes exit link

Galatasaray star Wesley Sneijder has denied reports linking him with a January move away from the club.

Several Dutch media reported few days ago that the Netherlands international had been furious for being left on the bench in league match against Kasimpasa, but the player has now moved to deny those reports.

Sneijder insists he is perfectly happy at Turk Telekom Arena, and that he was merely rested at the weekend.

“There is nothing to worry about,” Sneijder told NOS. “I’ve always said that I am happy at this club and I certainly do not plan to leave now.”

Sneijder joined Galatasaray in a high-profile move from Inter Milan in January 2013 and he quickly proved his worth in Turkey.

The 30-year-old has managed 24 goals and 11 assists in 71 league appearances for the Turkish giants, while netting 3 times in 15 Champions League outings.
