Yesterday, Juventus announced that a deal had been completed to take Palermo striker, Amauri, to Turin. The Brazilian had been chased by several clubs across Europe following a very good season with Palermo. Last week, it emerged that Juventus were very close to finalizing a deal despite late interest shown from England.
Amauri was not cheap for Juventus either. The Italian giants, who are looking to rebuild their squad following the Calciopoli embarrassment, paid a transfer fee of £9.8 million and granted Palermo co-ownership of Antonio Nocerino and Davide Lanzafame. They will also pay the player a salary of £2.8 million per year but that would increase if Amauri manages to find the net 20 times or more next season, all of this according to Football Italia.
“It’s true that Milan were also interested, but Juventus were my first choice. I never had any doubt since I first heard the Bianconeri wanted me.” Said Amauri at his press conference.
“Furthermore I always said that I wanted to play in the Champions League and now I want to win the Scudetto. For me this is a personal victory.â€Â
