Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has hinted David Moyes will succeed Alex Ferguson as the next manager of Manchester United.
Reports emerged on Wednesday suggesting Scot Moyes will replace his compatriot at Old Trafford, with Everton rumoured to be lining up a move for Wigan Athletic’s Roberto Martinez.
Moyes, who is out of contract at the end of the season, met Kenwright in London on Wednesday.
The Everton chairman said is not aware of any deal having been struck between United and Moyes, but conceded the decision is Moyes’ to make.
“I don’t know about a deal being done. David had a meeting scheduled with me and we had a good meeting,” Kenwright told Sky Sports.
“I think at the end of the day, David’s contract is up in six weeks’ time and he has a right to make his own decisions. He’s served this club wonderfully well and he has a right to make his own decision.
Kenwright also confirmed Moyes would be in charge of Everton’s English Premier League game against West Ham on Saturday.
