Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon dropped a hint that Robinho's transfer to Stamford Bridge is close to completion after admitting the Real Madrid winger will give the team an added dimension.
Luiz Felipe Scolari is keen to tie up a 27 million pounds (33.7 million euros) swoop for Robinho before the transfer window shuts on Monday and reports have claimed the deal will go through before the weekend.
Real have been haggling over the transfer fee for the Brazilian but Kenyon is confident Chelsea manager Scolari will get his man.
“Scolari identified two targets when we appointed him as manager. One was Deco and the other was Robinho. Everyone has seen the impact that Deco has had on the Premier League,” Kenyon told Sky Sports News.
“I think the squad is capable of competing without Robinho but with him (he) will give us an added dimension.”
