Metalist Kharkiv of Ukraine are through to the next round of the UEFA Cup following a 1-0 win over Olympiakos Piraeus, who risk getting knocked out of the tournament.

The match headed for a goalless draw but Edmar netted the winning goal on 87 minutes. As a result, Kharkiv remain in second place with a four-points advantage over Olympiakos.

Group leaders Galatasaray won 0-1 at Hertha BSC with a goal from Milan Baros, who scored from the penalty spot after 69 minutes.

The bottom three teams in this group could all still qualify. Olympiakos and Hertha BSC face each other on December 18th and it is likely that one of these two teams survives this round. Benfica host Metalist and in theory, the Portuguese could go through but their goal record probably won’t allow it.
