Klopp not taking Duesseldorf lightly

Borussia Dortmund head coach Juergen Klopp says his side need to be wary of Fortuna Duesseldorf ahead of their Bundesliga clash on Tuesday.

Promoted Fortuna have just three wins to their name all season but despite their opponents’ poor form, Klopp is taking nothing for granted.

Fortuna defeated Hamburg 2-0 in their last outing on Friday, with the Dortmund coach praising their attacking flare and claiming they have the ability to cause his team problems.

“They won against Hamburg and had a good game against (Werder) Bremen b

ut lost and before that, they had a draw against Hoffenheim,” Klopp said.

“They’ve become a really good counter-attacking team. They have Robbie Kruse in the front and he fits into that kind of play extraordinarily well.

“They stand very stable, very deep and that’s really uncomfortable to play against. Then they switch and it causes you problems.

“We have to be patient and think about our aim. It’s a difficult task and not an easy game for Duesseldorf. It’s a new challenge and we will face up to it.”

After the visit of Fortuna to the Westfalenstadion, Dortmund are away to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

League leaders Bayern are nine points clear of reigning champions Dortmund, but Klopp will be concentrating on the Fortuna game, before turning his attention to the key clash at the Allianz Arena.

“To be honest I don’t care about the Bayern match today at all,” he said.

“Why should I? In Mainz we had the chance to reach 25 points and tomorrow evening we’ll have the chance to reach 28.

“We won three times in a row in the Bundesliga. We haven’t been that successful before (this season). Accordingly we haven’t won four times as well.

“But that’s our next target. Then three days should be enough to take care of the other match and I think it’ll definitely be enough. We have had less time in the past before.”
