Krul set for Brighton switch

Brighton and Hove Albion are closing in on the loan signing of Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to Sky Sports.

The Netherlands international played under Chris Hughton at Newcastle for just over two years and they could now be set to link-up once more with the Seagulls boss keen to bring in competition for summer signing Matthew Ryan.

Krul has racked up one hundred and eighty-five appearances for the North East club since making his debut in a Championship clash at West Bromwich Albion eight years ago.

He spent last season on loan in his home country first with Ajax where he didn’t make a single competitive appearance and then AZ who he played for twenty-two times in all competitions.

He has been capped eight times for his country with one of those appearances famously coming from the bench in the quarter-final penalty shoot-out victory over Costa Rica at the 2014 World Cup finals.
