Goalkeeper René Adler will form part of the German starting line-up for their match with Russia on Saturday.
Manager Joachim Löw had to choose between Bayer Leverkusen’s Adler and Tim Wiese of Werder Bremen, following the absence of first choice keeper Robert Enke, who fractured his hand on Wednesday.
Adler was close to earning Löw’s trust before, but an injury then kept him out of the German team. At the time, it was Enke to take advantage.
“For me this is the absolute highlight in my career,” said Adler. “I’m not nervous, but you can say that I feel a particular tension.”
