Frank Lampard said he will continue to give his best for Chelsea on the pitch and hope to earn a new deal with the club.

The Blues midfielder has six months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and has been linked with a move away from the west London outfit. But Lampard said he isn’t ready to walk away from the club and insists he will fight to keep his place at the club.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 8-0 win over Aston Villa, he told Sky Sports: “I’m not concentrating on that (contract negotiations), I’m just going to continue playing and go game by game.

“I’m just pleased to be fit. I’ll keep trying to enjoy my football. I believe I have a lot in me to go, so I’ll just try to show that.

“I don’t want to get too deep into that, the club’s position is what it is and I’m just here to play football.”

Lampard celebrated his 500th Premier League start with his 190th Chelsea goal, becoming Chelsea’s all time leading goal-scorer in the top division in the process, overtaking club legend Bobby Tambling in the process.

“It means I’m old,” he joked after the game.

“It means a lot, the starts are great, I’ve been very fortunate to play for a great club. The managers I’ve had, the team-mates I’ve had around me, I’m very proud of that.

“The goals record as well, to beat such a great man such as Bobby Tambling, he’s a legend and a lovely bloke.”

The 34-year-old received a standing ovation from Chelsea’s fans when he was substituted, with choruses of ‘Super Frank’ and ‘Sign him up’ ringing around Stamford Bridge.

“It means everything, the fans are the club,” he added.

“From the moment I’ve been here they’ve supported me and that has grown and grown. I’ve loved them and I just appreciate it.”
