Late deals could change the Premier League landscape

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is still being linked with a move away from the Reds, despite the club suggesting he is not for sale

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is still being linked with a move away from the Reds, despite the club suggesting he is not for sale

The futures of Gareth Bale, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez have dominated the back pages and football websites this summer.

All three of the clubs that own the players say they are not for sale, yet speculation persists that the players are not happy at their current homes.

Suarez

Arsenal are still frustrating their fans with the lack of transfer activity, but prime target Liverpool’s Luis Suarez seems to have gone to war with his club. The Uruguayan has refused to say sorry for asking to leave the club.

Former-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has stated that the Reds would look stupid if they sold the Uruguayan star to Arsenal.

However, there is a growing feeling that there may not be a way back for Suarez at Anfield. I wonder if Arsenal made a £50million bid, would they be successful?

I think the answer would probably be yes and Suarez would leave for the Emirates. Should Arsenal sign Suarez then it would give everybody at the club a massive lift, apart from the clubs accountant of course.

The signing of Suarez alone could inspire Arsenal to make a challenge for the Premier League title. The Gunners do create any awful lot of chances and are just missing a prolific striker to put them away.

Suarez may not hand the Gunners the title instantly, but he would put them in a position far closer to the teams that finished above them last season. Despite claims Suarez is staying at Anfield I would not be surprise if the Uruguayan left Merseyside this summer, especially with Real Madrid lurking in the shadows.

Rooney

Wayne Rooney is another player who has completely dominated the transfer scenery for the last few months. Manchester United boss David Moyes says there is no rift between the pair, but the England international still seems unhappy at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have already had bids rejected for the striker. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is a shameless admirer of Rooney. In fact I am surprised he has not been seen outside Rooney’s house in a brown Mac.

Rooney to Chelsea would have seemed impossible a couple of months ago, but a lot has changed in the last few months. Rooney handed in a transfer request towards the end of last season and David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as United.

Rooney and Moyes never saw eye-to-eye during their time at Everton and the Scot’s presence at Old Trafford seems to have made Rooney even more determined to leave the club. Whether he will get his wish remains to be seen, but the Rooney of last season did not look like a man enjoying his football.

Arsenal are believed to be keen on rekindling their interest in the striker, if their move for Suarez ends in failure. However, it does seem that Chelsea are the favourites to the England striker and if they do they would have to be considered even stronger contenders for the Premier League title.

Bale

Tottenham ace Gareth Bale claimed the English Footballer of the Year award after an outstanding campaign last season. However, despite his best efforts his Spurs side failed to qualify for the Champions League.

This summer Spanish giants Real Madrid came calling with a world-record bid for the Welsh wizard. Tottenham have rejected it and basically shunned Real Madrid’s interest. However, reports in the Spanish press suggest that Real Madrid could return with an offer of upwards of £100million before the transfer window shuts on 2nd September.

Bale would be a major loss to Tottenham, despite Tottenham receiving a mega fee for the Wales international. Spurs have brought in two very good players this summer in Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, but the sale of Bale would completely negate those positive signings.

The sale of Bale (hey that rhymes) may send out a message that Tottenham are not an ambitious club. On the other hand however every player has his price and sometimes offers are hard to reject. The player also seems very keen on the move which will put the club from north London in an awkward position.

I am sure that Spurs could sign a host of players with that £100million, but every selling club will be aware that they have a wad of money burning a hole in their pockets and suddenly add a few extra million onto the value of their players.

Effect

The balance of power at the top of the Premier League is very delicate and any of the three players moving elsewhere could allow rival teams to capitalise.

It seems very unlikely that all three players will remain at their current clubs beyond the transfer window shutting.

However, if they do then not getting a move may have an effect on their performances and their clubs may start wishing that they had sold the players this summer when they had the chance.

All this speculation leads to a very interesting last few weeks of the transfer window. Stay tuned to Soccernews to hear more tales from the Three Must-go-teers.

Will Bale, Rooney and Suarez stay at their current clubs beyond 2nd September?

Because Arsenal never had a settled side when Rvp was there. We now have Cazorla and poldoski and flying walcott. We have one of the best centre halfs in koscielny. We have wilshere and a ever improving ramsey. We have a giroud that is getting better and better with time.

I think Arsenal are being way over looked.

You carefully avoid the obvious to go on trying to make this story run and keep the focus off your team’s failure to buy anyone this window. Even your manager, Toulous Le Plot, has stopped muttering about our player. John Henry told your CEO that he will NOT be sold to anyone in the EPL at any price because we are not in the business of strengthening our rivals at our expence. He will be sold but only abroad and during the next window or in the summer 2014. If it means he rots on the bench, that’s his choice. It’s win win for us either way, he plays for us or nobody else in the EPL.

Hi Ken, I agree with you on a number of your points. Arsenal may need more than just Suarez to challenge for the title, but as I put in the article his presence would put the Gunners closer to the teams above them.
