Lazio agree deal for Douglas Silva

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Lazio have all but agreed to sign Brazilian centre-back Douglas Silva Bacelar from Dnipro.

The Biancocelesti were looking to sign a replacement for Stefan de Vrij, who could miss a large chunk of the current season through injury.

And it appears they have succeeded in their quest as Douglas Silva Bacelar is expected to arrive at Stadio Olimpico in January.

The 25-year-old will initially join on a six-month loan, but the deal will also contain a €5.5 million obligatory buy-out option.

Douglas Silva Bacelar made a name for himself at Dnipro, starting 17 games as the Ukrainian giants reached the 2014/2015 Europa League semi-finals.

The central defender, who had represented Juventude, America RN and Vasco da Gama in native Brazil, clearly did enough to catch the eye of Italian giants Lazio and he will now get a chance to prove his worth in one of Europe’s top leagues.
