Lazio eyeing Ron Vlaar; Palacio linked with Boca return

hot-transfer-newsLazio eyeing Ron Vlaar

Il Corriere dello Sport has learned that Lazio are set to launch a fresh assault on Dutch defender Ron Vlaar.

The Bianconeri are desperate to recruit a high-profile centre-back in the January window after it was revealed that star player Stefan de Vrij would require a knee surgery.

And the latest reports suggest that Lazio are set to reignite their interest in Ron Vlaar, who is now available on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old left Aston Villa in the summer, but having suffered a serious knee injury, the Netherlands international was unable to find a new club.

Vlaar has been training with former club AZ Alkmaar as he steps up his recovery and he will soon be ready to return into action.

As a result, Lazio are almost certain to offer the central defender a chance to kick-start his career in Italian Serie A, although few more top clubs could join the race.

Palacio linked with Boca return

Boca Juniors are readying January bid for Inter Milan forward Rodrigo Palacio, Ole can reveal.

The Argentine giants have finally ended the lengthy trophy drought and they hope to seriously reinforce the squad in January.

After showing interest in Sevilla star Ever Banega, Boca Juniors now hope to lure Rodrigo Palacio back to La Bombonera and pair him with Carlos Tevez up front.

Namely, with Jonathan Calleri almost certain to move to Europe in the coming months, La Xeneize want to recruit the Nerazzurri forward as his replacement.

Having formed an amazing attacking trident with Juan Roman Riquelme and Martin Palermo, the 33-year-old is held in high regard by the Boca faithful and they would be delighted to see him back at La Bombonera.

Given that Palacio will be out of contract at Inter in the summer and that he is no longer regarded an important member of the side, a January return to Buenos Aires does seem like a realistic possibility.

Feyenoord keen on Aleksandar Katai

Dutch giants Feyenoord are hot on the trail of Red Star Belgrade midfielder Aleksandar Katai, according to Sportski Zurnal.

The Eredivisie high-flyers have been impressed with the performances of the 24-year-old footballer and have expressed their desire to lure him to De Kuip in the January window.

Sportski Zurnal has learned that Feyenoord even submitted a €1.5 million offer for the talented footballer, but their proposal was rejected.

Even so, with Red Star in serious financial problems, it is believed that they would be forced to consider any serious bid for their star player.

Since joining the club on a free transfer from Olympiakos, Katai has been in stunning form, and he has 12 goals and 7 assists in 18 competitive appearances this season.

Capable of playing through the middle or on either wing, the FK Vojvodina graduate is the footballer who can make a difference in the final third and no wonder that few more top clubs are also after his signature.
