Lazio in talks for Jardel

Italian giants Lazio are hot on the trail of Benfica defender Jardel, according to a report in A Bola.

It is no secret that the Biancocelesti are in the market for central defenders as they are eager to avoid another disappointing campaign.

A Bola claims that Lazio have made Benfica stopper Jardel their primary target and they are now trying to reach an agreement with the Eagles.

The Biancocelesti sporting director Igli Tare has flown to Lisbon to meet with Benfica officials and he is reportedly prepared to start the bidding at €4 million.

However, chances are that Lazio will have to seriously improve their offer if they want to recruit Jardel considering that he is held in high regard at Estadio da Luz.

The 30-year-old, who is set to acquire Portuguese passport, has won three successive Primeira Liga trophies with Benfica, having an important role to play in the last two.
