Lazio head coach Vladimir Petkovic says his team are raring to go ahead of Saturday’s Serie A meeting against Cagliari.
Petkovic’s side will enter the home fixture in second on the league table after an excellent first half of the season.
And after more than a fortnight’s rest thanks to the league’s winter break, Petkovic feels his team are ready to get going again.
“Over the last three days I’ve seen a proactive team who are athletically and mentally refreshed. Now we have to prove this on the pitch,” Petkovic said.
“There are many games ahead of us, but we should keep on doing what we have done up to now and that’s to focus on one match at a time and always try our best to win.”
Lazio are expected to win the match against Cagliari, who have failed to win their past eight matches.
But Petkovic is wary of his side’s opponents and insists that they have quality in the attacking third of the pitch.
“We always try to focus on ourselves, but Cagliari have proved to have many values,” he said.
“They made a series of positive results, followed by some negative ones. From the midfield upwards they are very good.
“They may have some difficulties defensively, but they are a team with many values. We have to give our best from the beginning and keep a good rhythm over 90 minutes.”
