Lazio step up chase for Davy Klaassen

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Lazio have launched an assault on Ajax playmaker Davy Klaassen.

It was Napoli who first attempted to bring the Netherlands international to Italy, but the Azzurri eventually cooled off interest after several unsuccessful attempts.

However, with the 24-year-old reportedly ready to leave Amsterdam ArenA for greener pastures, Lazio have decided to act.

The Biancocelesti believe that Klaassen would be an excellent addition to the squad and he is expected to form a midfield trio with Lucas Biglia and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at Stadio Olimpico.

Klaassen is currently valued at around €15 million, but his price could increase due to interest from England and Germany.

Despite operating as a central midfielder, the Netherlands starlet has been bagging goals for fun, scoring a total of 26 goals in last two Eredivisie campaigns.

Klaassen is now a first team regular for Oranje as well and he netted once in five 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
