Leganes have announced that the signing of Rodrigo Tarin from Barcelona on a three-year deal. The youngster’s future has been up in the air for months now, and while moving away from the Champions of Spain was likely difficult, he’ll still be able to play La Liga football after Leganes were able to maintain their top-flight status last season. The 21-year-old spent nine years with Valencia’s youth team from the age of six, before eventually moving to the Nou Camp back in 2011.

Since 2015 he’s made more than 40 appearances for Barcelona’s B-team, but he’s never been able to ascend into the senior team’s line-up. The desire to take a step up in competition likely led to Tarin’s decision to jump ship, as it didn’t seem like he’d be getting the opportunity he desired any time soon.

Tarin, who is viewed as the next big defensive stalwart for Spain by some, will turn 22 next week.
