Leicester City failed in Golovin approach

Talksport understand that Leicester City failed in an approach for Aleksandr Golovin this summer.

The twenty-two-year-old was one of the stand out performers for Russia at this summer’s World Cup, playing a key role in the hosts’ route to the quarter finals.

His form let to him being hot property in this summer’s transfer window, with Ligue 1 giants Monaco winning the race to secure his services though Leicester also registered their interest.

However, the pull of playing the Champions League was too much for the midfielder to resist.

He is yet to play for his new club, though across four seasons in CSKA Moscow’s first team he racked up one hundred and thirteen appearances in all competitions, scoring thirteen goals.

He has been capped twenty-three times for his country, scoring three times with the last of those strikes coming in the first game of the World Cup – a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia.
