Lennon after greater consistency

Celtic boss Neil Lennon wants greater consistency from his side after their 2-1 win at Motherwell lifted them to second in the Scottish Premier League.

Celtic fell behind to a Michael Higdon header after 11 minutes, but the visitors struck back just three minutes later through Anthony Stokes.

Gary Hooper scored the winner late in the game after a piece of individual magic from winger Paddy McCourt, and Lennon said he was delighted to come away from Fir Park with all three points.

“I thought second half we were excellent,” Lennon told ESPN. “It’s physical here, we came here last year and didn’t compete and we got beat.”

“I said to the players at half-time ‘big 45 minutes coming up’. And to be fair we missed some good chances second half. It was a great goal, the substitutes (McCourt and Hooper) made the difference.”

“People take it for granted what he (McCourt) does, we don’t. It was a magnificent bit of skill and Gary scored the type of goal we’ve been dying for him to score.”

“To come here and win, when all the pressure was on and everyone expecting to Motherwell to win the game, it’s testament to the players. They’ve got great belief and character, it’s just a bit more consistency we’re looking for.”
