Leverkusen, Schalke vying for ‘Iranian Messi’

Bundesliga outfits Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke are among clubs showing interest in FK Rostov forward Sardar Azmoun, according to Sport Bild.

The 21-year-old has played a key role in helping the Russian side secure Champions League qualification, before scoring second goal in the return leg against Anderlecht to help his team qualify for the play-off stage.

Azmoun is widely regarded as one of Asia’s hottest prospects and his impressive displays for club and country did not go unnoticed.

Sport Bild claims that Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke are both keen on the highly rated forward, who is already dubbed one of the leading forwards in the Russian Premier League.

While scoring 17 goals in just 34 league starts for Rubin Kazan and FK Rostov, Azmoun boasts an incredible record of 15 goals in first 18 Iran caps, so no wonder that top European clubs are eager to secure his signature.
