Morelia closed to within two points of third position after they ran out 2-1 winners at home to Toluca in Liga MX action on Friday.

Carlos Bustos’ men were looking to preserve their unbeaten record at home this season and they took a step in the right direction when Jefferson Montero opened the scoring eight minutes before the interval.

Midfielder Carlos Rodriguez levelled proceedings on the hour mark but scores were level for just nine minutes after Hector Mancilla found the back of the net.

The resulted extended Morelia’s unbeaten run to eight games as they consolidated fifth position, two points adrift of America, while 12th-placed Toluca suffered their third successive defeat.
