Liga MX wrap: Spoils shared in Mexico

Mexican powerhouses Guadalajara and Cruz Azul have played at a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Omnilife in the Liga MX.

Javier Orozco put Cruz Azul ahead in the 31st minute before 23-year-old Jesus Sanchez equalised with a wonderful volley five minutes before the break.

The result leaves Guadalajara struggling in 13th place while Cruz Azul sit four points off the pace in fourth position.

The 2012 Apertura champion Tijuana kept in touch with the leaders with a 2-1 away win at Pumas.

A 29th minute strike to Richard Ruiz was added to by Fernando Arce’s 67th minute effort before Pumas scored a consolation goal in the 88th minute through Javier Cortes.

Tijuana are now on nine points, behind leaders Club America only on goal difference, while Pumas languish in 15th place with only one point from their first three games.

Puebla FC got their first win of the season through as stoppage time winner as they overcame Santos Laguna 2-1.

Luis Noriega sent the home crowd into raptures in the 91st minute after Laguna’s Oscar Peralta cancelled out Feliz Borja’s 32nd minute opener.

Both sides are now tied on four points with Santos Laguna ahead because of superior goal difference.
