Pacos de Ferreira claimed a fourth Liga Sagres win from five matches with a 3-2 victory at Braga on Monday.
Peruvian winger Paolo Hurtado scored a first-half brace to put the visitors in control at Estadio AXA.
Cicero extended the advantage on 51 minutes as Paulo Fonseca’s men looked to be headed for a comfortable victory.
But Braga showed resolve to get back into the contest after Leandro Salino and Elder scored within 10 minutes of one another to make it 3-2 with just under half-an-hour to play.
The visitors held on for the victory, however, to move four points clear of Braga in the race for third place and a subsequent Champions League qualifying spot.
Undefeated Porto and Benfica are well clear at the top of the standings, with both sides on 46 points, 12 clear Fonseca’s side.
