Estoril jumped above Vitoria Guimaraes in the Liga Sagres standings after defeating them 2-0 at home on Saturday.
Vitoria suffered their first setback after only five minutes when defender Alex given a straight red card.
This allowed Estoril to dominate possession and it took until 33 minutes for Luis Leal to open the scoring.
The lead was doubled in the 65th minute through Carlitos before Estoril were also reduced to 10 men on 83 minutes after Steven Vitoria received his second yellow card.
But Vitoria could not mount a fight-back as Estoril moved to sixth place – goal difference ahead of the side they conquered.
