Sporting Lisbon climbed to sixth place in Portugal’s Liga Sagres thanks to a 3-2 home win over Moreirense on Saturday.

A penalty from Capel five minutes before the interval put Sporting ahead at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, but Moreirense restored parity just two minutes into the second half through Algerian forward Nabil Ghilas.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel put the 18-time Portuguese champions ahead once more after 66 minutes, but again the visitors hit back, with Anibal Capela tying things up just six minutes later.

And the home side had to wait until the 93rd minute to make sure of the three points, with Argentine winger Valentin Viola scoring the winner deep into stoppage time.

The result moved Sporting into sixth place, just one point behind Maritimo, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Pacos de Ferreira on Friday, while Moreirense are in 14th place, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
