Benfica ensured they stayed level on points with Primeira Liga leaders Porto thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over Vitoria Setubal on Sunday.
In a game that was dominated by the hosts from the outset, the Eagles went ahead in the fifth minute through Enzo Perez before second-half goals from Lima and Rodrigo sealed the victory.
Benfica now move to 45 points and are only second to Porto on goal difference, with the two sides 15 points ahead of third-placed Sporting Braga, who played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with lowly Beira-Mar.
Ulisses Morais’ side were on a three-game losing streak heading into the match but looked on track to end it after going 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Yazalde and Rui Sampaio.
However, Braga hit back before half-time, with Eder and Alan scoring within four minutes of each other to set up an enticing second half.
Beira-Mar re-took the lead on 57 minutes after Ruben found the back of the net but they could not hold out for the win as Joao Pedro scored his second goal in a week 12 minutes from time to give both sides a share of the spoils.
In the day’s other games, Gil Vicente beat Maritimo 4-2 to ease their relegation fears, bottom club Moreirense claimed a confidence boosting 2-1 win over Nacional and Olhanense played out a 0-0 draw with Academica.
