Sporting Braga cemented their place in the top four of Liga Sagres after thrashing Vitoria Setubal 4-1 on Sunday.

In a completely one-sided affair, Braga got off to a perfect start with Marcio Mossoro scoring with just two minutes on the clock.

Custodio made it a two-goal lead on the stroke of half-time before Ruben Amorim made the game safe in the 58th minute.

Jorginho Sousa scored a consolation for Setubal with three minutes to go but Ruben Micael ensured Braga had the final say, scoring his third goal of the season in the dying stages of the match.

Braga now sit on 29 points with the win opening up a four-point gap between them and fourth-placed Pacos de Ferreira who lost to Porto on Friday.

Elsewhere, Vitoria Guimaraes strengthened their hopes of a European berth with an important 3-1 win at Rio Ave.

Guimaraes went into the game in ninth place and knew victory would send them to within one point of Rio in sixth place and Rui Vitoria’s side didn’t disappoint.

After a scoreless first half Amido Balde opened the scoring for Guimaraes in the 59th minute only for Ahmed Mahgoub to level the scores seven minutes later.

A Tiago Rodrigues penalty on 74 minutes put the away side back in front before Amido Balde made the points safe in the last minute with his second goal of the match.

In the day’s other games, an early Adilson goal was enough to hand Maritimo a 1-0 win over Olhanense while Gil Vicente bounced back from a five-game winless streak in all competitions with a 2-1 away win over Estoril.
