A rampant first-half from Benfica has guided them to a comfortable 3-0 win over Gil Vicente and top spot in the Primeira Liga.

Benfica, who suffered a disappointing defeat against Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Champions League midweek, bounced back thanks to goals from Lima, Luisinho and Andre Gomes.

Brazilian attacker Lima put the visitors ahead inside the opening two minutes, his second goal in as many games.

Defender Luisinho made it 2-0 for Benfica on 27 minutes before Andre Gomes completed the scoring on the stroke of half-time.

The only low point of the match was the dismissal of Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez with 20 minutes remaining for two bookable offences.

Benfica are now three points clear of defending champions Porto, who are set to face Estoril on Sunday.

Pacos De Ferreira moved up to fifth following their 2-0 victory at cellar-dwellers Beira-Mar on Saturday.

Two goals in the final nine minutes from Vitor and Arturo Alvarez inspired the win, Pacos De Ferreria’s first over Beira-Mar since January 2007.

Meanwhile, Rui Duarte converted two penalties as Olhanense came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at home to Moreirense at Estadio Jose Arcanjo.
