Lens won a battle of Ligue 1 strugglers on Saturday, fending off Caen 2-0 in their relegation-themed clash at Stade Felix Bollaert.

Laszlo Bolonni’s side took the lead in the 20th minute through Moroccan midfielder Adil Hermach, before striker Toifilou Maoulida doubled the home side’s lead 10 minutes after the break.

The result helped Lens climb a point out of the relegation zone, with promoted Caen replacing them in the drop zone. Just one spot separates 18th-placed Caen and Lens on the table.

The result also put an end to Caen’s unbeaten league run of three games.
