Paris Saint-Germain can head into the weekend with an eight-point buffer atop the Ligue 1 standings when they host Montpellier on Friday.

Carlo Ancelotti’s league leaders have not lost a league match in their past eight at the Parc des Princes – with their last defeat at home coming in November.

Seven of those matches have been wins, and they can make it five straight home successes with a dismissal of Montpellier – and take them a small step closer to the Ligue 1 crown.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored seven goals in their unbeaten home run, out of 17 in total.

Montpellier will be looking to save face against the leaders, after being held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Troyes at their last start.

On Saturday, Troyes will continue their quest for top-flight safety when they welcome Saint-Etienne.

Sitting in 19th, Troyes are five points from escaping the bottom three, and have it all before them to beat Christophe Galtier’s men – who are on a 14-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Later in the day, Ajaccio host Toulouse in a mid-table battle, while two last-start winners – Evian and Reims – will go head-to-head with both aiming to move further away from the relegation zone.

Bordeaux have kept consecutive clean sheets in the league in their past two, and will hope to make it three when they welcome Lorient.

Rennes have not won in five, and host bottom-placed Nancy – who have won two of their past three.

Valenciennes and Bastia will round out the day’s fixtures.

In the early kick-off on Sunday, Nice welcome Marseille in a match key towards shaping the European positions.

Claude Puel’s men would climb above third-placed Marseille with a win at home.

Brest sit just one point above the drop, and face a tough challenge when Lille come to visit.

Rounding out the weekend, second side Lyon host 18th side Sochaux as they aim to keep up the pressure on title favourites PSG.
