Paris Saint-Germain missed the chance to open up a seven-point gap at the top of Ligue 1 when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Saint-Etienne.

Seemingly cruising after 19 minutes thanks to a Javier Pastore goal and a Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalty – awarded when Ezequiel Lavezzi was brought down by Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier – the capital club lost concentration and were duly punished.

Their lead was halved before the break when a wicked cross from the impressive Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang resulted in an own goal from PSG’s Alex, who turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Brandao.

The hosts drew level in the 72nd minute when the ball broke out to Francois Clerc on the corner of the box, and the right-back bent a glorious shot into the top corner of Salvatore Sirigu’s goal.

In other results on Sunday, Nancy gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a boost with a 1-0 home win over Nice.

Djamel Bakar scored the only goal of the game 23 minutes in, pouncing on the rebound after Nice goalkeeper David Ospina had done well to save his original shot.

Nancy are still stuck at the bottom of the Ligue 1 table and five points from safety, but they did move level with second-bottom Troyes on 24 points.

Toulouse and Bordeaux, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw at the Stade Municipal.
