Lingard extends Birmingham stay

Jesse Lingard has extended his loan-spell at Birmingham City by a further two months, BBC Sport understands.

The 20 year old was due to return to Manchester United following the Blues trip to Leeds United this weekend, but will now remain at St Andrews until December 14th.

The news will be welcomed by manager Lee Clark, who has seen fellow midfielder Jonathan Spector ruled out for the remainder of the calendar year after picking up a thigh injury in training.

In his four appearances for the Midlands club, Lingard has scored five times, with four coming in a thirty-one minute period in his debut against Sheffield Wednesday a month ago, as well as the fourth in a 4-0 win over Millwall.

With just three wins in their opening eleven games, Birmingham sit just three places and four points above the relegation zone, though they could rise to fifteenth place this weekend if results fall in their favour.
