Lisandro Lopez talks up Argentina return

Lyon forward Lisandro Lopez is set for a return to Racing Club de Avellaneda, according to the player’s representative.

Lopez, 29, is still one of the most sought-after forwards in world football, but Lyon have so far resisted temptation to cash in on their prized asset.

However, it appears that the Argentina international has set his sights on leaving Stade Gerland in favour of returning to Racing Club.

“As Lisandro’s friend, I see him joining Racing in June or December,” agent Miguel Pires told Radio 9.

“I haven’t talked to him (about that), but I know what he thinks without having to say so. It is very likely.”

It was at Racing Club that Lopez began his career, so it is no wonder he is hoping to end his playing days where it all started for him.

However, with top European clubs lining up for his signature, he may decide to embark on one last challenge before he returns to Argentina.

During the course of his professional career, Lopez has scored 129 goals in 277 appearances for Racing, Porto and Lyon.
