Liverpool welcome Southampton to Anfield tonight for the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final, and need two goals without reply to book their place in the final. The Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat at St Mary’s a fortnight ago but are favourites to progress with the Saints having been woeful on the road of late.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side are struggling of late, coming off the back of four winless games in all competitions – having drawn to Sunderland, losing to Southampton (EFL Cup) and playing out a stalemate with Manchester United, before a recent defeat at home to Swansea City.

As for the visitors, Southampton recently ended a four-game losing run with a win at home to Leicester City. However, the South Coast club have struggled on the road which could see them struggle at Anfield.

Claude Puel’s men have managed one win in their last eight away games, but have picked up one win and two draws from their previous three head-to-heads with Liverpool. Nevertheless, with Liverpool so desperate to go one better in the EFL Cup after losing in last season’s final, Bet 365 are giving odds of 4/5 for the Reds to progress.
