Liverpool agree deal for Sporting starlet

Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon, according to O Jogo.

The talented defender has been attracting a lot of interest of late, with Monaco and Valencia among clubs expressing interest in his services.

However, Liverpool were always believed to be leading the chase for the 20-year-old and they seem to have finally reached an agreement with the player’s employers.

O Jogo has suggested that the Reds have submitted a €7 million offer for Ilori, with Sporting chiefs reportedly prepared to accept the latest proposal that could see the fee rise depending on various performance related bonuses.

It is no secret Liverpool have been working hard to reinforce their back line ever since Jamie Carragher retired from football, although Ilori is not exactly the player who can immediately challenge for starting berth an Anfield.

He is, however, considered a hot prospect for the future and will certainly be given a chance to impress in the coming years.

I feel LFC really haven’t invested into the squad as they should. Henry and the board are trying to buy on the cheap. They don’t want to pay for qaulity. Look at Eriksen at 12m GBP, LFC can’t afford that for a young up and coming skilled player? Henry is trying to achieve CL with bare minimum and its not going to work. Especially the way Spurs are spending. Henry is not really serious, because if we don’t make CL , Suarez is gone for sure.
